Audi battery questions, answered
Everything we get asked on WhatsApp, grouped by topic.
Booking and arrival
How fast can you replace an Audi battery in Dubai?
The nearest van usually reaches you in 20 to 35 minutes in Dubai, a little longer in outer Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. Fitting and coding take 25 to 45 minutes depending on where the battery sits in your model.
Can you come to a basement or tower car park?
Yes. Most of our Dubai jobs are in basements and podium car parks. The technician carries the battery and tools in by hand if the van cannot enter. Tell security a service visit is coming.
Do you cover Abu Dhabi and Sharjah?
Yes. We cover Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi city, including Khalifa City, Yas Island, Reem Island and Mussafah. Arrival times outside central areas are confirmed when you message.
What warranty do I get?
Up to 24 months, depending on the battery brand and type you choose. The warranty is recorded against your car and sent to you on WhatsApp, and a claim is handled at your location.
How can I pay?
Card or cash once the job is done, or split the cost into four payments with Tabby or Tamara. There is no charge for delivery, fitting or coding when you buy the battery from us.
What if the battery is not the problem?
Then we do not sell you one. The test covers the battery, alternator and starter draw. If the fault is elsewhere, we tell you what we found and can arrange recovery to a workshop.
Batteries and coding
Does an Audi need battery coding after replacement?
Most Audis built from around 2008 do. The car's energy management has to be told a new battery is fitted, with its capacity and type. We do this on site with a diagnostic tool as part of the fitting.
Which battery does my Audi need, AGM or EFB?
If your Audi has start-stop, it needs AGM or EFB, and most larger models need AGM. We check by model, year and the label on the old battery, then fit the same technology or better.
Where is the battery in my Audi?
It depends on the model. A3, Q2 and Q3 carry it in the engine bay. A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and Q5 usually have it under the boot floor. The first Q7 has it under a front seat. Our technician will know before arriving.
Do electric Audis like the e-tron need a 12V battery?
Yes. Every e-tron and plug-in hybrid has a 12V battery that powers the locks, screens and control units. When it fails the car will not switch on even with a full high-voltage battery. We replace those too.
What happens if an Audi battery is not coded?
The car keeps using the old battery's ageing data. Start-stop may stay disabled, comfort features may be limited, and the new battery is not charged to its ideal profile, which can shorten its life.
Can you code a battery that another shop fitted?
Yes. We test the battery, confirm its capacity and type from the label and register it. It usually takes ten to fifteen minutes.
Which Audi models need battery coding?
As a rule, anything with a battery monitor: A4 and A5 from 2008, A6 from 2005, Q5, Q7, A8, and all A3, Q2, Q3 with start-stop, plus every e-tron. Classic models do not.
Is coding the same as registering a battery?
In everyday use, yes. People say coding, registration or adaptation for the same job: telling the energy management about the new battery.
Do I lose my settings when the battery is changed?
No. We connect a memory keeper before disconnecting anything, so the car never loses power. Windows, clock, radio and seat memory stay as they were.
What do you do with the old battery?
We take it away and hand it to a licensed recycler. Lead-acid batteries are almost fully recyclable and there is nothing for you to arrange.
Can I supply my own battery and have you fit it?
Yes, we can fit and code a battery you already have, as long as it is the right type for the car. The warranty then stays with whoever sold it.
Is the service really 24 hours?
Yes. Vans run through the night and on public holidays. Late-night arrival times are sometimes better than daytime because the roads are clear.
Jump start and testing
How do you jump start an Audi with the battery in the boot?
You do not go to the boot. There is a positive jump post under a red cover in the engine bay and a marked earth point. The booster connects there and the car starts as normal.
Will a jump start damage my Audi?
Not when it is done with a surge-protected booster on the correct points, which is how we do it. The risk comes from poor cables, reversed polarity or jumping from another running car.
My Audi started after the jump but died again next day. Why?
The battery can no longer hold charge, or something is draining it overnight. A health test separates the two. If it is the battery, it needs replacing rather than another jump.
Can you jump start an e-tron?
We can power the 12V system of an e-tron so it wakes up, which is the equivalent of a jump start. If the 12V battery has failed we can replace it on the spot.
How often should an Audi battery be tested in the UAE?
Once a year from the second year, ideally in April or May. Heat is what wears batteries here, so a test just before summer gives you the most useful warning.
Can I test my Audi battery myself?
A multimeter will show resting voltage, which tells you the charge. It cannot measure health. For that you need a conductance tester, which is what our technicians carry.
What voltage should an Audi battery show?
About 12.6 to 12.8 volts after resting a few hours with everything off. Below 12.2 volts it is significantly discharged. While driving, charging voltage varies between roughly 12.5 and 15 volts by design.
Is the battery test really free?
It is included with any jump start or replacement visit. If you want a test on its own, message us and we will tell you how that is arranged in your area.
