Wheel bolts are tightened in sequence with a torque wrench, not just hammered on with an impact gun.

The spare is inflated to its marked pressure. Spares sitting in a hot boot for years are usually low.
On an Audi specifically
Not every Audi carries a full-size spare. Many have a space-saver, some a collapsible spare with a compressor, and some only a sealant kit. Audi wheels are held by bolts, not nuts, and one is usually a locking bolt, so find the adapter in the toolkit. Cars with air suspension need jack mode set in the MMI.

What if my Audi has no spare wheel?
Tell us when you message. If the hole is in the tread, we can often repair it on the spot. If the tyre is destroyed, we arrange a recovery truck to take the car to a tyre shop.
How far can I drive on a space-saver spare?
Treat it as a way to reach a tyre shop, not a replacement. Keep to the speed limit printed on the wheel, usually 80 km/h, and avoid long highway runs. Braking and handling are reduced with it fitted.
I cannot find the locking wheel bolt key. What now?
Check the toolkit under the boot floor, the glovebox and the side pockets in the boot. If it is missing, tell us before we set off. Without it the wheel may not come off at the roadside.
Is it safe to change a tyre on Sheikh Zayed Road?
Not by yourself. If the car can roll, take the next exit or reach the hard shoulder. Switch on the hazards, get everyone out on the side away from traffic and wait behind the barrier until we arrive.
