What the job covers

Climate control scan
Fault memory, refrigerant pressure reading and flap motor positions are read from the climate control unit.

Pressure and leak test
High and low side pressures are measured, then UV dye or nitrogen finds where the gas is escaping.

Component repair
The failed part is replaced: compressor, condenser, blower motor, flap motor, pressure sensor or cabin filter.

Recharge and test
After repair the system is vacuumed, charged by weight and checked for vent temperature at idle.
On an Audi specifically
Many Audi models use a variable compressor with no magnetic clutch. It is regulated by a control valve, so there is no click to listen for. The climate control unit has to be read for refrigerant pressure, valve signal and flap positions before any part is blamed. Plenty of good compressors get replaced without that step.

Why is my car AC cold while driving but warm at idle?
Usually the condenser is not shedding heat at low speed. A failed radiator fan, a condenser clogged with sand and dust, or low gas are the common causes. In summer traffic this shows up first because there is no airflow.
Why does one side of my Audi blow warm air?
On dual-zone climate control, a stuck temperature flap motor or low refrigerant often causes this. A scan of the climate unit shows which flap is not reaching its position. It is rarely the compressor.
Do I need a new compressor?
Not until it is proven. Low gas, a faulty pressure sensor, a control valve or a wiring fault can all stop cooling. Ask to see the pressure readings and fault codes before agreeing to a compressor.
Why is there water inside my car from the AC?
The evaporator drain is probably blocked, so condensation runs into the footwell instead of under the car. It needs clearing soon. Wet carpet in Dubai humidity grows mould quickly and can damage wiring under the floor.
