What to know about the Q3 battery

The Q3 is one of the most common Audis on UAE roads, so its battery is one we always carry. Most failures we see are on cars that are three summers old and parked outdoors. The warning is usually a slower crank on the first start of the day.

Signs your Q3 battery is on its way out

  • Start-stop stops working or shows as unavailable
  • The engine turns over more slowly on the first start of the day
  • "Low battery" or "Electrical system" messages in the instrument cluster
  • MMI or interior lights switch off sooner than they used to
  • The battery is more than two UAE summers old

Audi Q3 battery questions

Short answers. Anything else — WhatsApp us.

What battery does the Q3 use?

Typically an H6 of about 70 Ah, AGM on most versions and EFB on some. We confirm from the fitted battery's label and your model year.

My Q3 cranks slowly in the morning. Is it the battery?

Very likely. A slow first crank that improves later in the day is the classic sign. A free test on site confirms it in a few minutes.

Which battery does my Audi need, AGM or EFB?

If your Audi has start-stop, it needs AGM or EFB, and most larger models need AGM. We check by model, year and the label on the old battery, then fit the same technology or better.

Where is the battery in my Audi?

It depends on the model. A3, Q2 and Q3 carry it in the engine bay. A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and Q5 usually have it under the boot floor. The first Q7 has it under a front seat. Our technician will know before arriving.
