On the first-generation Q7 (2006 to 2015) the battery is under the front seat, and the seat has to be moved right back or unbolted to reach it. On the second generation it is not in the engine bay either. We confirm the exact position from your chassis number.

What to know about the Q7 battery

The Q7 is the Audi battery job other shops turn down. On the first generation it lives under the seat, the seat needs power to move, and the battery is flat. We bring a power supply to move the seat first. It takes longer than other Audis, and we tell you that up front.

Where is the battery in an Q7?

On 2006 to 2015 cars it is under the front seat. On later cars it is away from the engine bay as well, under the luggage floor or a front seat depending on version. Jump posts are under the bonnet on all of them.

Why does a Q7 battery change take longer?

Access. On first-generation cars the seat has to be moved and trim lifted before the battery can come out, and it is a large, heavy AGM. Expect 45 to 60 minutes instead of 30.

Which battery does my Audi need, AGM or EFB?

If your Audi has start-stop, it needs AGM or EFB, and most larger models need AGM. We check by model, year and the label on the old battery, then fit the same technology or better.

Where is the battery in my Audi?

It depends on the model. A3, Q2 and Q3 carry it in the engine bay. A4, A5, A6, A7, A8 and Q5 usually have it under the boot floor. The first Q7 has it under a front seat. Our technician will know before arriving.
