What to know about the e-tron S Sportback battery
An e-tron S Sportback with a full traction battery can still refuse to switch on. The 12V battery powers the locks, screens and the contactors that connect the main pack. When it fails the car looks completely dead. Replacing it is a normal 12V job and does not touch the high-voltage system.
The e-tron S Sportback is fully electric. Everything on this page refers to its 12V battery, the one that wakes the car up. The high-voltage traction battery is a separate system that we do not service.
The Sportback body changes the boot shape and trim, not the battery. Access and fitting time are the same as the standard e-tron S Sportback.

Does the e-tron S Sportback have a normal car battery?

My e-tron S Sportback will not unlock or switch on. Is it the 12V battery?

Does an Audi need battery coding after replacement?
Most Audis built from around 2008 do. The car's energy management has to be told a new battery is fitted, with its capacity and type. We do this on site with a diagnostic tool as part of the fitting.
